Sarah Mansfield is an attorney at Ortale Kelley Law Firm, where her practice focuses on civil litigation in state and federal court, family law and domestic relations, and appellate practice. She is known for developing strategic, practical solutions to complex disputes and helping clients pursue favorable outcomes through strong advocacy and thoughtful resolution.
Sarah combines courtroom advocacy with a practical, client-focused approach to dispute resolution. Her experience includes high-conflict family law matters, complex federal civil litigation, motion practice, trial preparation, negotiation, and appellate work. This broad background allows her to evaluate cases from both a trial and appellate perspective while developing long-term litigation strategies tailored to each client’s goals. She applies her talents as a trial lawyer to civil defense litigation in state and federal courts.
In her family law and domestic relations practice, Sarah assists individuals and families navigating divorce, custody disputes, adoption matters, and other sensitive legal issues. She understands that clients often seek legal counsel during some of the most stressful periods of their lives. Her goal is to provide clear guidance, honest advice, and strong advocacy while remaining responsive and accessible throughout the process.
Sarah’s prior plaintiff-side experience in federal civil rights litigation gives her a valuable perspective in her defense practice, allowing her to evaluate claims from both sides and develop practical, strategic approaches to complex disputes. Having handled complex federal litigation matters, she brings strong experience in case development, constitutional issues, motion strategy, and dispute resolution.
Before joining Ortale Kelley, Sarah practiced for five years with Brazil Clark PLLC. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sara Doyle of the Georgia Court of Appeals, where she gained valuable experience in appellate analysis, legal writing, and judicial decision-making.
Sarah earned her J.D. from Belmont University College of Law in 2021, where she was involved with the Women in Law Society and Criminal Law Society. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies, summa cum laude, from Westminster College in Salt Lake City.
Sarah is admitted to practice in Tennessee, the United States District Courts for the Middle, Eastern, and Western Districts of Tennessee, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She is also a member of the Lawyers Association for Women.
Outside of the office, Sarah is involved with St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church and enjoys exploring Nashville’s music scene with her husband, Jimmy, a producer and recording engineer, while supporting local artists and live music venues throughout town.
