Thomas J. Fletcher

Thomas (“Tom”) J. Fletcher is an Associate Attorney at Ortale Kelley, where his practice focuses on personal injury, insurance defense, appellate advocacy, and civil rights litigation. Known for his competitive spirit and strong courtroom presence, Tom approaches each case with preparation, integrity, and a commitment to delivering results for his clients.

Tom earned his J.D. from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where he served as Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board and was widely recognized for his exceptional advocacy. He received numerous distinctions, including the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition Top Advocate Award (Boston Region, 2025) and the New York City Bar Association National Moot Court National Finalist and Best Brief Award (2024).

His other honors include the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award, CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Civil Rights, Christian Soronen Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy, Joe A. Moore Award, Dean’s Award for Outstanding Oral Advocate, and the Robert L. Spence, Jr. Moot Court Award. Tom also received the C. Cleveland Drennon, Jr. Memorial Scholarship and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a national honor society recognizing outstanding courtroom advocacy.

Before joining Ortale Kelley, Tom gained experience as a Summer Intern with both the firm and FedEx Logistics, where he supported attorneys in contract and dispute matters. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Lyon College, where he earned both athletic and academic scholarships and was a two-time NAIA Academic All-Conference Baseball honoree.

Tom’s strongest skills include oral advocacy, brief writing, and dispute resolution. He thrives on the strategic challenges of litigation and approaches each matter with the competitive drive of an athlete and the discipline of an advocate.

A member of the Tennessee Bar and the Order of the Barristers, Tom values transparency, preparation, and perseverance. Outside the office, he enjoys fly fishing, cooking, fantasy football, and spending time with his wife and son.
