Mr. Corts began his practice with Ortale, Kelley, Herbert & Crawford in January of 1973 and became a partner in January of 1978. Mr. Corts is a graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Law, class of 1972.

Mr. Corts' primary area of practice is tort, business, and construction litigation in both state and federal court. He is admitted in all Tennessee State Courts and before the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. During his career, Mr. Corts has conducted numerous seminars on torts, trial techniques, products liability and professional liability. He has extensive trial experience, both jury and non jury, in matters involving professional liability, contract disputes, premises liability, insurance, construction defects, and products liability. In 1990, prior to the State required mediation practice, Mr. Corts organized a group of experienced Nashville trial attorneys to act as mediators and arbitrators. Many of these attorneys now devote their entire practice to mediation. Mr. Corts is a frequently used mediator for all types of business, construction and tort litigation.

Mr. Corts is a member of the Nashville, and Tennessee Bar Associations and was a former member of the Board of Directors for the Nashville Bar Association from 1988 to 1990. Mr. Corts is listed in the 2006 edition of "The Best Lawyers in America". Mr. Corts was a little league baseball coach in Nashville for over 20 years, is an avid sports fan, and is the football play-by-play announcer for Montgomery Bell Academy high school football team. He enjoys travel, cooking, and fine dining.
